Can someone explain this zodiac thing to me?

All i really know is the signs like Libra and stuff but i was looking around in this section and saw a bunch of qestion that had stuff like



Moon Libra or Libra Rising and stuff about the sun and other stuff...



What is all that and whats it mean?Can someone explain this zodiac thing to me?
Essentially, astrology is more than the media makes it out to be. There isn't just one sign that governs your personality. There are many different signs that have different functions.

Sun Sign (or "Star Sign")= What you know you are. I was born March 2= I'm a Pisces. The Sun is the foundation for the entire chart (like you'd have a foundation for a house). Essentially, if we stripped you down of everything that you are....you would default to a personality akin to (ex) Pisces.
...you do not just have the Sun in the solar system though. That was not the ONLY celestial body in the sky when you were born. There was also: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, %26amp; Pluto were also there. These planets were in entirely different signs. These planets represent different parts of your personality. (just like different rooms within a house serve a different purpose.)

Ex. Moon= How your Emotions function/What can also put you at peace
(I have a Taurus Moon==It takes A LOT to make me mad but once you've done it, brace yourself. I also feel most at peace around things "beautiful" or in the woods, b/c taureans are known or liking "the finer things in life %26amp; nature" they are also said to be very difficult to enrage but once at that point, they'll charge at you full force.)

It works like that---different planets=different parts of your personality. planets w/ a sign=that part of your personality is more like that sign (even if it isn't your Sun Sign)

"Rising"....this deals with "Houses"....it's like the next level up in reading your chart. Once you understand how to read the different planets, you learn how to apply/what houses are. Houses are different areas of your life. There are 12 and they make a circle (to map what the horizon looked like at the time of your birth. Basically, they divided the sky into different sections and gave each one meaning:::

Example: 1st House/Rising/Ascendant= This was the sign that was "Rising" on the horizon at the time that you were born.
This is the Personality you show to the world. This is a sign where, if people absolutely had to guess, they are more likely to pick that sign more than anything else. Why? B/c it's the face you put on for everyone. Think of the sun as the foundation for the house. Think of the Rising as the color of the house, what the garden looks like outside--what people see of the house.
So, I'm a Scorpio rising....even though I'm a pisces sun whose supposed to be extremely wishy-washy on things, many people see me as very decisive. This comes from the scorpio rising.

Each house has one of the 12 zodiac signs attached to them. So you have a different way of handling different aspects of your life---you handle them based on the "personality features" that are assigned to whatever sign is in whatever house.

Well see, when you really start to get into astrology you start to understand how there's millions of leos in the world but not all of them are the same. That's because we have a whole chart with different signs in planets that describe what signs we act like in a specific place.



EX:



Your Rising: Is the way you react to things, and how people see you from the outside, your first impression on someone. So you might be a libra (sun sign) but if your rising is...scorpio you'll come off as one to people you have just met. so you ACT like your rising.



Sun: This is the signs almost everyone knows and the only one you have probably heard about its the main points about your personality. so if your a libra you might not act like one too often but you sure THINK like one.



Moon: The Planet Of Needs And Feelings. so you might come across as a scorpio as a first impression, think like a libra....so what if your moon is in..aquarius? well whatever your moon is then that is how you FEEL. so you might not be the most emotional person since aquarius is an air signs and not really very emotional..or comfortable with their feelings. you would put logic over emotions. it all depends on what you moon is...



so those are the 3 main ones and how they work. you have a whole birth/natal chart with all 12 planets and what they all mean to form your personality. also threes the specific traits of the signs and where they're placed...like the moon is emotions but if you have an air sign in there you might not be too comfortable with emotions, if its in a water sign you'll probably be too emotional so it all depends..
