Will my medical insurance cover part of the costs for dental extractions?

I have dental and medical insurance, if i go to an oral surgeon will my medical pick up part of the costs? Will my medical insurance cover part of the costs for dental extractions?
Only way you can tell is if you call or request a benefits booklet. Or check their website. Usually they do but you may have a co-pay or you may not. But best to ask them so at least you know what you have to pay out of pocket. good luck!
That depends if you have dental insurance as part of your health insurance. You'd be better to ring your insurance company and ask before you have it done if your not sure.Good luck! Will my medical insurance cover part of the costs for dental extractions?
No, medical insurance will not pay. Only dental insurance would cover this.
Nope... medical is medical and dential is dental and they don't USUALLY mix together.... UNLESS, you have a pre-existing MEDICAL condition that was the direct CAUSE of your oral surgery... for example... 4 years ago, I had to have reconstructive upper jaw (mandible) surgery to have more bone implanted from my hip to my jaw. I was born with a cleft palate and the bone density in my upper jaw was sacrificed for cleft palate repair surgery when I was YOUNG... due to this, my teeth had nothing to hold onto and all started falling out one by one. It took a couple years for all of them to fall out... Well, Because of the cleft palate surgery, I could Not be fitted for a regular denture plate so it was decided that I would have bone grafting and then dental 6 dental implants were inserted after the graft healed. Well, the POST placement is normally considered DENTAL and not covered by medical insurance... BUT, because of my cleft palate and surgery, the cost of the posts was COVERED under my medical insurance.... They did NOT, however cover the two tooth extractions that I had during the surgery to implant the bone grafts...no matter how it is looked at, TEETH EXTRACTION is only considered DENTAL...Will my medical insurance cover part of the costs for dental extractions?
The best way to tell is if it's life-threatening. You see, you can live without your teeth.

However, if an infection gets into your gums and isn't taken care of immediately, it can traverse your entire system via the blood stream making it a life-threatening problem. In that case, your health insurance will take over. Your oral surgeon will know the answer and if s/he is ethical, they'll tell you.

Ask! There's no such thing as a dumb question.
medical insurance will cover it if the teeth arent out above the gums. becaus they have to cut them out and its considered surgery. once the teeth come out of the gums and are showing the dental insurance will have to cover it because its pulling teeth, not cutting them out.
