Would you tell your boss if you were looking for a new job?

My boss told me the other day if he found out I was looking for a new job, he would fire me. But if I told him I was looking for a new job, that would be OK! Mind you, he can be very mean and has lied to me before. I was suppose to be able to come back from maturnity leave part time, and work my way back up to full time, but on my first day back he told me to pick part or full time and that was it! Now I am stuck at part time! This is a professional office.Would you tell your boss if you were looking for a new job?
This man is mean and nasty, he doesn't keep his word, and he lies. What do you owe an employer like him? Nothing! Granted he may fire you when he gets a call asking for information concerning your employment, but do you really think he won't fire you if you tell him you are looking for a job? Get a new job and then give him 2 weeks notice. However, I'll bet you get let go as soon as you tell him you are leaving in 2 weeks. Cut your loses and find a better job.
Sounds like you need to leave anyway. You said he already lied to you. If you tell him that you are looking he will fire you. Move on and leave him hanging. You do not even have to give notice unless you are under contract. go get another job and be happy.

Good Luck!!!Would you tell your boss if you were looking for a new job?
Doesn't sound that professional. I would look for a new job and quick and not share the information with anyone at work. You have got to take care of yourself, and I wouldn't trust him, he has proven untrustworthy.
Definitely not. It sounds like he is trying to set you up. Since you are currently part time you should look for a job on your time off. I wouldn't work for someone who is mean to me or especially who has lied to me. The office may be professional but your boss sounds extremely unprofessional. By the way, if he fires you for looking for another full time job then you can get unemployment compensation. But he could also just be a bigger jerk to you. So for your own protection I would just bide my time while I searched for another job. Good luck to you!Would you tell your boss if you were looking for a new job?
I would not tell him. He obviously has no loyality towards you. Look for another job. If you tell him that you are looking he will start looking for your replacement and then fire you once one is found.

Once a liar, always a liar.
