Inside was some kind of old school looking mod that has a 2inch spring mounted on the chassis and a little PC Board that is soldered to a couple of tuning cans.
The spring is a about 2" long and 1/4" in diameter.
I would like to know what this contraption does.Old school Cb radio mod that has a spring mounted on the chassis?
It's probably a TVI filter add-on.
Most CB's had one adjustable coil to reduce TVI, but were barely adequate - so if the CB operator was close to a neighbor with TV interference, the neighbor usually complainedOld school Cb radio mod that has a spring mounted on the chassis?
It sounds like a T section high pass filter. The capacitors will pass the higher frequencies and the coil will take the lower frequencies to ground. This would help reduce spurious output from the transmitter.
