Do you have to have a license or registration to talk on a CB radio?

I have a cb radio and wanted to know if i need a license or registration or anything to talk on itDo you have to have a license or registration to talk on a CB radio?
No. At least, not in the U.S. Just know your CB etiquette and don't be stupid. The FCC has guidelines, and most of the people that use it will get annoyed if you break some rules like:

Can't use it to broadcast music, to preach, or to advertise

Can't modify your CB to exceed 4 watts of output

Can't intentionally jam or interefere with the fair communication of others, etc.

Other than that, look up your 10- codes, the phonetic alphabet, and trucker lingo to figure out what the heck everyone on CB is sayin'... :)

oh, and, THEY ARE NOT ILLEGAL.Do you have to have a license or registration to talk on a CB radio?
No-however if you get into Ham radio then you need a license. As it can communicate with people world wide.A CB is limited range.Do you have to have a license or registration to talk on a CB radio?
No, not anymore. Used to have to have a registration and you were given call numbers that you had to use every time you got onto the radio. That was back in the early 70's or late 60's. Now all you need is your"handle" and talk all you want. They are not illegal or every trucker in the country would be breaking the law. However, police scanners and radar detectors can be taken away from you.

By the way, a "handle" is your unique name such as your avitar is here on yahoo. mine was Mello Yello.
My friend has one in his F-150 and has gotten in trouble for it. The officer who pulled him over just let him go b/c it's not really a big deal to him cause we live in a small town. Anyways it's illegal to have one.
