How to Tell If a CB radio is blown?

I got a cheap CB and i am wondering how to check to see if it is blown without hooking up an antenna? How to Tell If a CB radio is blown?
If you are going to test its transmitting capabilities, you may want to buy a "dummy load" and connecting coax. You can also use a watt meter and a frequency counter to check power output and frequency accuracy, if you want to go that far.How to Tell If a CB radio is blown?
Your best bet is to use a SWR/Watt meter to check the power output of the radio. Since you do not want to hook it up to a antenna you will need to either buy or make a dummy load.

Since a CB radio is fairly low power you can make a cheap dummy load from parts available at Radioshack, however I would only transmit into this for a couple seconds. Pick up 5 10ohm resistors with the highest wattage rating available. Solder these in series and connect them to a PL-259 connector. You now have a cheap dummy load that will work in very short intervals. How to Tell If a CB radio is blown?
hook it up to power and see if it turns on but don't key the mike without an antenna on it.
It will be smiling!
